There are many things that can inspire. One of the things that inspires me is graffiti art. These talented artists make monumental murals and small intimate vignettes that enhance and beautify the urban environment.
I took these photographs on a cold, grey morning, but they color and liveliness of the murals, as well as the uplifting messages presented, some earnest, some humorous, made the day brighter.
Urban life can sometimes seem dark and dreary. The color and motion and messages in these murals inspire me as an architect and a creator. Their work inspired my making this video.
Oakland is a great town. These artists are proud of Oakland. We share that pride.
