The local landmark, generally referred to as “the Flintstone House”, which is visible from highway 280 in Hillsborough, is in the news again.

The article, linked above, is in the Guardian, the London based newspaper.
The house itself hasn’t always been painted as it is now. I recall when I first drove by the house, it was a creamy white color.
I only know what I’ve read in the papers and have seen from the highway. I am by no means an expert in this particular matter, nor have I worked on projects in Hillsborough. These are just my observations and opinions.
The question of permits related to landscaping on private property is a sticky one. The only thing that I can see in this case is that she has added a terrace that requires a retaining wall. The retaining wall appears to be taller than would normally be allowed without a permit. But that should be easy to rectify.
The site is prominent and very visible from the highway. Mrs. Fang’s landscape choices are not what I would normally go for, but the enthusiasm for life and joyful attitude are evident and I endorse her approach to life and decorating your own home: do what gives you joy.
