2021 Random Photo Series
As a way of rounding out the year, I have decided to share 3 random photos from my phone each week, along with a discussion about why I took the picture. This might give you a sense of how I think and who I am.
Random Photo #1:
This is a detail photo I took during a site visit to a potential project site.
I hadn’t seen concrete blocks with this pattern before. Here the standard 8 x 16 inch blocks had shallow protruding pyramids shapes. They had been stacked with the bases of the pyramids meeting. This added a diagonal component to the normal horizonal pattern that comes from standard blocks or bricks set in a running course.
I liked the way the shape added an additional complexity to the pattern of the wall, as well as providing more relief and shadows.
Repeating patterns fascinate me. I think there is a beauty to them and an aesthetic power, too.
Cheers,
David
