Ikea’s new kitchen system, SEKTION, was released on February 2nd. We are starting to hear more about it. The folks over at thekitchn.com have been all over it. The most recent post there discusses some of the similarities and differences from the old system.
In summary, the SEKTION cabinet widths are the same as the old system, but there is a different mounting system and different accessories. One of the biggest differences, other than the mounting system, is the ability to put drawers inside of drawers. While this looks cool in photographs, other than a sliding half drawer in a top drawer – say for knives or flatware, I think the drawer in a drawer might get annoying quickly. I could be wrong.
