Solar Eclipse

Next Monday, August 21st, we will experience a solar eclipse. Although the Bay Area is not in the path of “totality” – where the sun will be completely covered by the moon – we will still be able to see about 80% coverage.

This is one of those “only once or twice in your lifetime” events. I recall an eclipse in my youth, but I mostly remember the preparations, like making a pin-hole camera so I could watch the eclipse projected on the sidewalk rather that staring up at the sun.

I will be closing my office during the eclipse (which will last between 9am and noon on Monday, August 21st). It should be interesting to watch the moon creep across the face of the sun. I may have to make another of those pin-hole cameras so I won’t be blinded by the event!

Have a great eclipse, and if you call or email during the event, I’ll get back to you as soon as I can – that afternoon.
