I don’t know about you, but I am a big believer in New Year’s resolutions. Except, I generally intend to follow through on my resolutions. They really are goals after all.
Goals are just dreams if you don’t take action consistently.
So that’s what I try to do. I don’t always succeed, but more often than not, I do.
Following through on resolutions is tough:
- You have to set goals that you can actually act on,
- then make a plan on how you’ll take the actions,
- then make the time to take the actions,
- THEN take the actions
If your resolutions include starting to work on a major addition or remodel to your home, or if you want to legalize that in-law, or add an ADU to your property, now’s the time to start planning.
The first step you can take, that will help you set up your budget and a schedule, is to sign up to get my Project Planning Cheat Sheet. It’s easy to get. Just fill out the form in the column on the right of this page and follow the instructions. The Project Planning Cheat Sheet is a single page packed with information about how much it costs to build in the Bay Area, and how long things take.
If your resolution includes legalizing an in-law, or adding and Accessory Dwelling to your property, the second step you can take, after getting your copy of my Project Planning Cheat Sheet, is to sign up to get my ADU Fact Sheet. The ADU Fact Sheet is available on my sister website, myaccessorydwelling.com.
The ADU Fact Sheet lays out the potential uses and benefits of having an ADU. It’s really useful to help you think through if you really want to build an ADU.
Once you are armed with the information in my Project Planning Cheat Sheet and the ADU Fact Sheet (if you are planning an Accessory Dwelling Unit), your first steps toward meeting your 2019 goal of a successful addition, remodel, or ADU are already completed!
After you’ve digested the information in those documents, you can come back to this site and contact me to set up either an initial meeting or one of my other related services. It’s easy to do and worth your while.by
