First World Problem: Website Updates

UPDATE (4/18/18): After much wailing and gnashing of teeth, this is it: my new website design! Woo hoo! It looks pretty darn good, if I say so myself. I still may tweak a few things as time goes by, but for now, we’re done.

Welcome to my interim website. If you’ve visited this site before, it looks a little different. We are in transition. Pardon our dust.

I use WordPress for this website. In their world, I am able to select what they call a Theme, which is like a template for the website. The Theme allows me to have a look I like with features I need without having to do all the programming myself.

Well, they “updated” my old theme, fixing what was not broken, and some critical functions were lost. Keeping the old theme in it’s new version would not work. It made trying to navigate around the site impossibly difficult. I don’t want your experience here to be difficult.

Finding a theme that looks the way I want and has all the functions I need, then adjusting it to exactly suit my needs, could – and probably will – take hours of time. Yet another thing that fall in the category of “what an architect does”. In the mean time, I have settled on this theme as a temporary fix.
