High Rise Seismic Repair
Pacific Bell & AT&T
These two high-rise buildings in Oakland function as a single building. Damaged in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, the project was to repair and strengthen them. The facility contains local and long distance telephone equipment and support offices that had to remain in service during construction. The exterior walls were thickened from the exterior using “shot-crete” at thicknesses varying from several feet at the foundation to 8 inches at the top. Design and Construction took 6-1/2 years.
