In January of 2016, I launched making PLACES | the newsletter, as a way of reaching out to and keeping in touch with a small group of friends, clients, contractors, and real estate professionals.
My goal was to share information about what architects do and how we do it, share some of the things that inspire me as a designer, and share some of the projects I had in my studio.
In the course of the year I wrote 10 “front page” pieces about the process of getting architectural projects designed and built. I wrote 7 pieces about things that inspire me as a designer, and 3 pieces about my approach to design. I wrote 2 pieces with pictures of Singapore and Hong Kong, from my travels this year. And I wrote 7 pieces about projects in my studio.
To wrap up this experiment in communication, I decided to make the December 2016 edition into an Annual of the year just ending, reprinting everything I wrote for making PLACES, and add some new stuff as well. The entire volume is offered as a gift to the small group of people who have been receiving the newsletter.
